Just 30 days after joining the Plaintiff’s side from a career on the defense, John Eads stepped into his first Plaintiff’s trial, preparing for trial in just two weeks. Alongside him, associate attorney Alex Kay played a key role in putting together the case and securing justice for our client.
Our client, an elderly woman, was walking into her physical therapy appointment when she encountered a significant sidewalk deviation. The uneven concrete caused her to trip and fall, resulting in two broken wrists, surgery, and a long, painful recovery.
To make matters worse, the Defendant quickly fixed the sidewalk AFTER the incident—but never accepted responsibility. Instead, Auto-Owners Insurance tried to diminish her pain, initially offering just $75,000 for her injuries.
Let us be clear: her pain was worth far more.
While many firms might have accepted the lowball offer and moved on, we refused to back down. Our team took this case to trial, putting the facts in front of a jury.
The result? A $350,000 jury verdict—more than five times the insurance company’s initial offer.
