What Happened?
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Matt Weiss gained unauthorized access to private digital accounts of more than 3,300 University of Michigan athletes. These accounts contained deeply personal data that no coach or staff member should have seen.
Worse yet, this breach was made possible by the University's failure to enforce basic cybersecurity protocols and monitor employee access to student information.
