- Report or are about to report a suspected violation of law to a public body
- Participate in an investigation or hearing related to such a report
Retaliation under the WPA includes:

- Demotion or transfer to a worse position
- Reduction in pay or hours
- Harassment or hostile work environment
- Negative performance evaluations connected to the report
You don't have to prove the underlying violation was real, only that you had a reasonable belief that it was and that you reported it in good faith.
