With more than 40 years of litigation experience, Richard G. Lewandowski brings a wealth of courtroom knowledge and trial advocacy to Marko Law. Throughout his distinguished career, he has represented clients in complex civil litigation, insurance defense, and federal civil rights cases, earning a reputation as a skilled trial lawyer and appellate advocate across Michigan.

Richard earned his Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School in 1985 after completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan. He began his legal career in business litigation before transitioning to civil defense, where he spent decades trying cases and representing clients in high-stakes litigation.

In 1999, Richard joined forces with renowned trial attorney Neil Fink, expanding his practice to include federal civil rights litigation under 42 U.S.C. § 1983. Together, they successfully secured a $1 million federal civil rights judgment against MotorCity Casino, a milestone that reflects Richard's ability to handle complex constitutional and civil rights matters.

Richard later served as in-house counsel for Farmers Insurance before joining AAA, where he became one of Michigan's most experienced defense trial attorneys. Since the conclusion of the COVID-19 pandemic, he has tried approximately 10 jury trials, making him one of the state's most active courtroom advocates during that period.

In addition to his extensive trial experience, Richard has argued cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the Michigan Court of Appeals, with several published appellate decisions bearing his name.

At Marko Law, Richard leverages decades of courtroom experience to advocate for individuals whose lives have been changed by serious injuries, civil rights violations, and negligence. His strategic approach, meticulous preparation, and deep understanding of litigation make him a valuable advocate for clients facing difficult legal challenges.

Outside the courtroom, Richard is a devoted husband and proud father. Married since 1995, he and his wife have raised two children who both pursued careers in medicine. Their daughter is a primary care physician, and their son is a psychiatry resident. Richard and his family are also excited to welcome their first grandchild.

A lifelong baseball enthusiast, Richard has coached the sport, played competitively, and has been a longtime Detroit Tigers season ticket holder. He brings that same passion, discipline, and competitive spirit to every case he handles.
