Michigan law generally does not require employers to provide meal or rest breaks for most adult workers.
However, there is an important exception:
- Employees under 18 must receive a 30-minute uninterrupted break after working five continuous hours.
Even when breaks are provided voluntarily, federal wage laws may still apply regarding whether those breaks must be paid.
