Are there age restrictions for operating Jet Skis in Michigan?

Yes, Michigan law establishes age restrictions for operating Jet Skis and other personal watercraft (PWC) based on horsepower:

  • Individuals under the age of 14 may not legally operate a Jet Ski or PWC of any horsepower.
  • Individuals aged 14 and 15 may operate a Jet Ski or PWC if they have obtained a boating safety certificate and are accompanied by a parent, guardian, or designated adult over the age of 21.
