Detroit Resources
Free call center that connects Detroit seniors, caregivers and families to home care, meals, wellness programs, Medicare counseling and elder abuse resources.
The Detroit Area Agency on Aging is the federally designated aging agency for Detroit and nearby communities. It runs a resource call center and funds in-home care, Meals on Wheels, wellness centers and long-term care options.
When an older relative is hurt, isolated or being taken advantage of, DAAA is the local door into services that keep them safe at home. Its staff know which Detroit programs exist and how to get on them.
Call the main line and ask for Information and Assistance. Services are coordinated rather than delivered on the spot, so expect an intake conversation and follow-up. DAAA also hosts the local Long Term Care Ombudsman.
Serves older adults (generally 60+), adults with disabilities and caregivers in Detroit, Hamtramck, Highland Park, Harper Woods and the five Grosse Pointes; it does not provide legal representation.
