Detroit Resources
Gives you a copy of the Detroit police crash (UD-10) report or crime report for your incident. Reports cost $10 and are picked up in person at the 3rd Precinct.
The Detroit Police Department keeps the official written report for every crash its officers respond to. The records counter moved from the old 4700 W. Fort Street location to the 3rd Precinct on West Grand Boulevard.
The crash report is the first document an insurer, adjuster or lawyer will ask for. It shows who was involved, what the officer observed and the report number you will need for everything else.
You need the exact date and cross streets, valid ID and $10 in exact cash or a money order. Michigan crash reports can also be bought online for $15 through the State Police Traffic Crash Purchasing System at michigan.gov/tcps once the report has been filed.
In-person requests only per the city page; bring exact cash or money order ($10, no change given), valid ID, and the crash date and cross streets.
