Detroit Resources
Wayne County nonprofit offering legal advocacy with a focus on people who are homeless or at risk, survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking, and seniors through its Elder Law and Advocacy Center.
Neighborhood Legal Services Michigan, still often called Wayne County Neighborhood Legal Services, is a Detroit-based nonprofit that combines legal advocacy with housing and education programs. It runs an Elder Law and Advocacy Center in Redford and an Out Wayne County Housing Advocacy Center in Taylor.
For seniors, people facing homelessness, and survivors of abuse or trafficking, NLSM offers legal help alongside housing support, which can matter when a legal problem and a housing crisis arrive together.
Call the main Detroit office and explain your situation so staff can route you to the right program. Seniors and caregivers can call the Elder Law and Advocacy Center directly.
Serves Wayne County residents through specific programs (housing, elder law, domestic violence and trafficking); it is not a general walk-in legal clinic and does not list income limits online.
