Detroit Resources
Detroit nonprofit offering street outreach, low-barrier emergency shelter, medical respite, supportive housing and integrated mental health and primary care for adults experiencing homelessness.
NSO has served Detroit since 1955. Today it runs the Detroit Healthy Housing Center, street medicine and outreach teams, permanent supportive housing at the Bell Building, and a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic.
People hurt in an accident or leaving jail sometimes have nowhere safe to recover. NSO is one of the few Detroit providers that combines a bed, a nurse and a case manager under one roof.
For a shelter bed, Detroit routes everyone through CAM at (313) 305-0311 first. For mental health crises, NSO now points callers to DWIHN at (800) 241-4949. NSO's main line can direct you to the right program.
Shelter and housing programs are for adults experiencing homelessness and are entered through Detroit's CAM system; NSO's former COPE crisis line is no longer in service.
