Detroit Resources
Free Information and Assistance line for older adults and caregivers in the 34 communities of western and southern Wayne County, with care management, meals and long-term care options.
The Senior Alliance is the Area Agency on Aging for western and Downriver Wayne County. Specialists on its Information and Assistance line match older adults and caregivers with in-home services, nutrition programs and long-term care support.
Families outside Detroit often do not know where to start after an injury or a scare involving an aging parent. One call reaches someone whose job is to explain the local options and help apply.
The line is free and staffed on weekdays only. The agency also hosts the local Long Term Care Ombudsman for nursing home and adult foster care residents in its area.
Serves the 34 communities of western and southern Wayne County (outside Detroit); residents of Detroit should contact the Detroit Area Agency on Aging instead.
