Where Wayne County residents file for a Personal Protection Order at no cost; social service specialists complete the forms with you, explain your rights and can accompany you to the hearing.
The Wayne County Clerk's PPO office is the starting point for anyone seeking a Personal Protection Order against an abuser or stalker. Its Victim Advocacy Program staff interview you, fill out the court forms and offer referrals and court accompaniment.
A PPO is one of the fastest legal tools to put distance between you and someone hurting you. Having trained advocates prepare the paperwork, free of charge, removes a major barrier when you are scared and overwhelmed.
There is no fee. You can file in person at Suite 928 or online through the county's PDF forms or Michigan Legal Help, then email the forms as instructed. Bring as many specific dates and details as you can.
Specialists help with paperwork and support but do not give legal advice or represent you; a judge decides whether to grant the order.
