Free walk-in help from court navigators who explain forms, procedures and fee waivers for Wayne County Circuit Court cases. They give information and referrals, not legal advice.
The Self-Help Center is run by Wayne County's Circuit Court for people handling a case without a lawyer. Staff and volunteers help you find the right forms and understand what the court expects.
Circuit Court handles civil suits over $25,000, including serious injury cases, as well as family matters. Knowing how to file, respond or ask for a fee waiver can keep a case from being lost on procedure.
Arrive early because the last visitor is signed in at 1:30 pm. Free attorney clinics also meet in the building: the William Booth Clinic in Suite 784 on most Thursdays and the Detroit Bar Association clinic on the 12th floor on the third Tuesday of the month.
Open to any Michigan resident with no income limit, but staff cannot give legal advice or represent you.
