Quid pro quo harassment differs from other forms of workplace harassment in that it involves a direct threat or promise of a tangible employment benefit or detriment in exchange for sexual favors or other inappropriate conduct. This can include things like a promotion, raise, or continued employment being contingent upon engaging in sexual activity with a supervisor or coworker. Other forms of harassment, such as hostile work environment harassment, do not involve such direct quid pro quo arrangements.
